Innumerable natural Calas, romantic cycle tracks and footpaths between
almond and apricot plantations, pleasant small towns and fishing villages,
excellent restaurants: southeast of Majorca is Mecca for sun worshiper,
water sportsman, idler, golfer and gourmet! Here our top Ten...
1) In fjords of
Majorca forget the time
The finest white sand, nice beaches, stone
pine-covered dunes... Southeast coast of Majorca has to offer some saying
`du' protected bays similar to fjord. There one can hardly decide on his
favorites. First-class, for example, the Cala Gran near the local centre
is maintained by Cala d ` Or - here it is sieved even once a week by machine.
As a wildly romantic beauty spot the double bay Cala Mondragó with
steep rocks and old stock of trees is considered. One reaches the rear
part of the bay about a small path. Thanks to the flat entrance in the
sea smaller children can have a bath here also certainly. Tip: Early in
the mornings or in the evening from six one has even in the high season
the Calas for himself only - how abou a picnic
in the sunset?
2) On mountains
biken
Difficult upward gradients, flat country lanes, asphalted runways: in
the home region of the bicycle legend Guillem Timoner every cyclist finds
his individual dream route. Particularly the ascent on the mountain "
Sant Salvador " is sudorific. Who accepts this challenge, can be rewarded
with world-wide fame. This proves at least Timoner which got six times
the world champion's title in the Steherfahren between 1955 and 1965.
Today the Felanitxer pursues a bicycle business in his native town. Naturally
hikers also come in the southeast completely at your expenses - for example,
in the protected area " Parc Natural Mondragó ". Tip: in the region
around S ` Horta one can experience the almond flourish particularly intensely!
The pink spectacle of nature lasts from end of December till the middle
of February.
3) With sea look
to golfs
The first nine holes lie with the slope between Pinienhainen and offer
spectacular sea looks, the second nine holes hide refined between carob,
almond trees and olive-trees: Vall d ` Or golf stands for close Fairways,
refined Dog legs and fast Greens. Particularly
delightfully is hole 3: the drop in prices was decorated with old railway
sleepers and stones. From now one enjoys about the pinery away a five
stars look at the whole coast between Cala d ` Or and Portopetro. Address:
Ctra. Postage Colom-Cala d'Or, km. 7.7, 07669
S' Horta, Tel.: 971-837001, fax: 971-837299, E-mail: valldorgolf@valldorgolf.com.
4) Against the
sky come
Sporting ones defeat steep from jaws(from pine wood) zigzags of the 509
meter high mountain surrounded " Puig de
Sant Salvador " by bicycle or pedes, pleasant
start by the car (10 minutes of the local centre Felanitx). On the summit
the monastery fortress " Sant Salvador " is enthroned since 1348, in 1934
an enormous Christ monument has come. In 1957 an oversize stone cross
was established on the opposite mountain peak of the double summit. However,
in the best pair of glasses mitbrigen, 360
degree panorama looks about the east of the island also is with open years
paradisiacally! Hungry pilgrims should order in the monastery restaurant
at all costs the Paella without fish - prepares after an old house recipe
of the monks. Natives gladly have a barbecue with child and cone on Klosterberg.
Tip: Who cannot agree of grand panoramic looks at all enough, " Castell
de Santueri " still does an excursion the
medieval castle - she lies on the mountain just near. From the view platform
at 400-meter height one can look about the level to Portocolom.
5) Dreadful pirate's
histories experience
Added some imagination is asked here: Who allows to wander while seeing
the trutzigen buildings of Santanyí his thoughts a little, the
restless time of the pirate's attacks from can introduce itself 14. to
in the 17th century lively. Particularly the ruin of the former city attachment
Porta Murada gives evidence from the former threat by the uninvited guests
of the sea. Beautiful the bright-golden Santanyí-Marès is
a sandstone which was fetched in enormous amounts from the close quarries
to the building of the defence arrangements. On the coast numerous watch-towers
remind of the dangerous Moros of the neighbouring island Cabrera. The
military tower " Torre d ` en Bèu " guards since 1569 the harbour
place Cala Figuera. Today tourists enjoy the wonderful panoramic looks
of the former watch-towers - for example, in the Cala Santanyí,
in Portopetro and with Cala d ` Or.
6) Hagglings in
Felanitx Who found Sundays to date to the yawning boringly, his opinion rapidly
changes in Felanitx. While during the day of man other-local everything
appears as deserted, only now the Felanitxer awake so correctly to the
life. At the famous Sunday market there rules close thronging - at last,
one can believe that the municipality counts about 15.000 inhabitants.
In the small full of corners alleys it is haggled what holds the stuff.
Bargain hunters can also not let escape the market hall and the open shops,
because attractive discounts lure the whole year. Gourmets buy a supply
from fresh dates and outstanding wines from the region - nine of ten bottles
of the Majorcan white wine come from Felanitx. Tip: after the market visit
at all costs in the nice " café d eat ` it Mercat " by noon (C/.
Major, 26, Tel.: 971-58 00 08).
7) Stroll by small
Ibiza
What is the famous architect Cezar Manrique for Lanzarote, Josep Costa
Ferrer for Cala d ` Or: about 70 years ago the Ibizenker formed the first
tourist settlement of Majorca in the typically cubic style of his home
island - cute lime-white whitewashed bungalow with chimney and rounded
edges. In the middle of a white village church in the style of the Spanish
colonial chapels. The name Cala d ` Or, in German gold bay, is a comprehensive
term for eight idyllic bays between Cala egos in the south and Cala Serena
in the north. The local centre has to offer narrow and full of corners
alleys, cultivated pavement cafés and exclusive designer's boutiques.
From Easter till October the atmosphere is lively, but is international-weighed
out unobstrusively and very much. Here in winter one can enjoy absolute
peace. Cultural Highlight: the jazz festival every year at the beginning
of June.
8) To night dreams
in Approx. ` s Concos
At the weekend is in the small little village Approx. ` s Concos between
Felanitx and Santanyí party time. Here meet the insiders to celebrate
in announced clubs and scene bars till the early morning hours. Every
amount of nice people, good cocktails and announced Sound one has, for
example, the "Abraxas" (So 19 - to offer 6 o'clock) - from midnight the
party goes off so correctly. Also during the day an address which one
should know: the restaurant led by the journalist Rainer Fichel "Viena"
(C/. Metge Obrador, 12-13; Tel.: 971-842290) - a casual scene club in
the bistro style with excellent kitchen and contemporary art.
9) Imaginative
gormandize
Desire on fresh-caught fish in maritime yacht atmosphere? Then quickly
in the " El Yate reserve " a table (Complejo Port Cari, Cala d ` Or, Tel.:
971-65 80 71). For creative-mediterranean gourmet's kitchen paired with
unique harbour look the "Colón" of the Austrian Dieter Sögner
is known (C/. Cristobal Colón, 7, Portocolom, Tel.: 971-82 47 83,
Jan.-15. Febr. closed). In the altered barn " Sa Farinera de
S ` Horta " are served to original Majorcan palate tickle (Sisena Volta,
78, S ` Horta, Tel.: 971-83 72 28, Dec. and Jan. closed). Good dinner
in really cosy atmosphere gibts in the Finca
restaurant " El Campesino " (Ctra. S'Horta-Portocolom,
Tel. 971 83 74 27). For absolutely tasty courts(dishes) without a lot
of useless rubbish stands the long-distance lorry driver's restaurant
" Moli d ` en Sopa " (in the street of Manacor after Portocristo). Here
one can strike in the Buffet for about 5 Euros so correctly - hors-d'oeuvre,
main court and mountains are offered by dessert. Table wine and water
are included!
10) Go down and
fill up The narrow bay Sa Nau/Arsenau near to
S ` Horta is a popular destination of the excursion for diver - but also
sun worshipers estimate the fine-sandy nature beach. There are two German-speaking
diving schools in Cala Gran and Cala Serena - both bays belong to Cala
d ` Or. Schnuppertauchkurse already become from about 35-40 Euros anbeboten!
