(" Ses Beneides "); At noon in Pollenca: " pi de Sant Antoni
" - to the top of a soaped stone pine a cock is bound. Young men(husbands)
climb to about 20 meters of high slippery tree to get down the cock as
first one; in Sa Pobla there is the Majorcan "court(dish) Espinagada
- a tin cake with vegetable and fresh water eel
19.1. Revetla/previous evening " Sant Sebastià " (name
day of hl. Sebastian) in Palma - live music on all big places(squares)
of the capital (program with the city administration Palma availably);
barbecue (tasty small sausages); party till the early morning hours!
20.1. Beginning of the one-week patronage party for " Sant Sebastià
" in Palma (Palmas shops and offices have concluded(closed)), in
the evening big firework in the harbour

Good Friday (Divendres Sant): at beginning of the darkness Descent from
the Cross procession with atmosphere of the Calvary to the parish church
in Pollença (Devallament); about 23 o'clock procession " Sant
Entierro " (holy interment) in Sineu; In the evening procession from
Sant Francesc in Palma
Easter Sunday: 8 o'clock fair(mass) in Llucmajor; afterwards guidance
of the Jesusstatue in a man's procession of the church to the meeting
(Encuentro) in the town hall square with the Marienfigur carried by women(wives)

East Tuesday: day of most Romerías (pilgrimages) on Majorca, for

June: international jazz festival on four stages in Cala d ` Or
Fronleichnahm (El body): the procession of the eagles (Processó
de les Aguiles) in Pollenca state two girls in expensively decorated eagle
costumes.

Classic music festivals in Valldemossa (Chopin), Palma (castle Bellver),
Deià (Son Marroig), Pollenca (monastery Santo Domingo), Cala Ratjada
(Jardines de Casa March)
Patronage parties: Particularly in summer many places celebrate their(her)
saints with program of several days - among other things folklore dances,
Open Air concerts, balls, big dinners on the market place, children's
attractions, exhibitions of agriculture and art profession (small trade
shows)

i Cristians " in Pollenca - the historic battle of 1550 between pirate
and Pollencinern begins about 19 o'clock close to the cock fountain, the
local inhabitants celebrate their(her) annual victory till the early morning
hours; big firework at midnight! (see Majorca today report " hot

Night 2./3.8. " Marxa of the Güell a Lluc a peu " - about
18.000 people(persons) undertake a 48 km long night migration of Palma
to the monastery Lluc (each can mitwandern; on the way there is food;
who slows down early, rises in the Begleitbus)

31.12. New Year's Eve (Who would like on Palmas town hall square the new
year reinfeiern should bring twelve bunches of grapes. Since on each of
twelve strokes of the clock at midnight a bunch of grapes is eaten according
to old Spanish custom. This ritual should bring luck! Then it is pushed
naturally and a firework is lit.)
31.12. the " Festa de ls ` Estandart " (day of the standard)
is celebrated in Palma with big firework and public festival (in memory
of the reconquest Palmas by king Jaume I of Aragón and the victory
about the Moors)
